Of all the awards, this is the one that has been the longest since a member of the Buffalo Bills won it. In fact, it has only happened once and that was back in 1970 by quarterback Dennis Shaw.

If there is going to be a rookie on the offensive side of the ball to win it for the Buffalo Bills, it would likely be running back James Cook. The second round pick out of Georgia is one of the top receiving backs in this year’s class and now joins an offense that leans heavily on the passing game.

In recent years, running backs have done a good job winning this award and in fact, out of the last nine winners, four have been running backs. However, the last player to do it was Saquon Barkley back in 2018.

In a year where the quarterback class isn’t as strong, this creates a great opportunity for another position to win the award. If Cook becomes a big part of this offense this season he certainly has a chance to be in contention for the award.
