Buffalo Bills: 3 veterans in jeopardy of losing spot on depth chart to rookies
Which three veterans on the Buffalo Bills could end up dropping down the depth chart due to a rookie this summer?
General manager Brandon Beane has done a good job over the years of finding players in every round that can improve the roster. This year’s draft class is no different as it has a number of players that could make an immediate impact with the Buffalo Bills this season.
While rookies have stepped up and been key contributors their first year in the league, it also means that a veteran is losing their spot on the depth chart. When looking at the Buffalo Bills 2022 draft class, these are three veterans that have been put on notice and will need to compete to keep their spot with the team.
Matt Haack
For some players, they may end up just further down the depth chart but the Buffalo Bills, and most NFL teams, keep only one punter on the 53-man roster. This means that Matt Haack isn’t necessarily competing for a spot on the depth chart but rather a spot on the roster.
The Bills drafted Matt Araiza in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and this now sets up a training camp battle between the two Matts. The difference may come down to holding field goals but entering OTAs and training camp, it would make sense that the rookie has the edge in the position battle.
