Can Travon Fuller be the next good undrafted free agent cornerback for the Buffalo Bills?

If there is one position that the Buffalo Bills have had great success finding good players as undrafted free agents it is at cornerback. The most notable player is Levi Wallace, who was an undrafted free agent coming out of Alabama who became a starter for a few seasons, the Buffalo Bills have also added Cam Lewis as an undrafted free agent, who has started a few times in the past.

This year, the Buffalo Bills signed cornerback Travon Fuller out of Tulsa and he will now look for a chance to make the 53-man roster. Let’s take a closer look at the player and how he might fit in this defense.

Stats/Measurables

Height: 6’1″

Weight: 180 pounds

Travon Fuller started at Texas A&M and would spend four seasons there, playing a limited role. He appeared in 16 games and had 20 total tackles and one pass breakup. He would transfer to Tulsa prior to the 2021 season and got a chance to see his most playing time and took advantage of it.

Fuller would finish the year with 42 total tackles, three interceptions and nine pass breakups.

Can Travon Fuller make the Buffalo Bills’ 53-man roster?

According to Aaron Wilson, there were multiple teams competing to sign Travon Fuller but he ultimately decided to sign with the Buffalo Bills. The reason may be that Fuller should have a chance to make the 53-man roster as a rookie.

It certainly won’t be easy as the Top 5 spots on the depth chart appear locked in with Tre’Davious White, first round draft pick Kaiir Elam, Dane Jackson, Taron Johnson, and Siran Neal. However, if the Bills elect to keep six defensive backs, this final spot is up for grabs with players like Cam Lewis, Olaijah Griffin, Nick McCloud, Christian Benford, and Fuller.

The training camp battle for that final spot at cornerback should be one of the most competitive on the Buffalo Bills roster this year and Travon Fuller should be in the mix.
