Could Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen throw further than Matt Araiza can punt?

In this hypothetical, it wouldn’t be in a game-time situation. The two could wear whatever they want– pads or not– and they’d just have to throw or punt the ball as far as possible.

Funny enough, the trend of throwing absolute bombs at quarterbacks’ Pro Days seems to have originated from Josh Allen’s Pro Day, as he threw an 80-yard bomb at his Pro Day in 2018.

So, after going through the quarterback transformation that he has since his rookie season, it only stands to reason to believe Allen could toss it further than 80 yards now.

His technique is better, and his arm is stronger, so it’d be shocking to see the “Punt God” kick a pigskin further than Josh Allen.

That being said, I’m going to put an estimate around 85-90 yards for Josh Allen’s furthest throw possible. To make it fair, let’s just say in three attempts, his average throw would be ~87.5 yards.

Not too shabby, right?

So, with Josh Allen’s hypothetical estimate around 87 yards, has Matt Araiza punted a football anywhere near that?
