The running back position is one that fans should watch closely and is one the Buffalo Bills could use an early draft pick on. One player that appears to be on their radar is Rachaad White out of Arizona State University, who they reportedly met with virtually. Let’s take a closer look at the player and how he might fit on the Bills.

Measurables/Stats

Height: 6’0″

Weight: 214 pounds

Arms: 31 1/4″

Hands: 9 3/4″

Rachaad White played only two seasons at Arizona State University after starting out in junior college. However, those two seasons with the Sun Devils were rather impressive and helped him move up draft boards.

In a shortened season due to the pandemic, Rachaad White would have 420 rushing yards, 151 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns in only four games in 2020. This past season, White continued playing at a high level and had 1,000 rushing yards, 456 receiving yards, and 16 total touchdowns.

NFL.com Scouting Report by Lance Zierlein

"Running back with size and senior year production, but the tape is more average than exciting. White is a tight-hipped runner lacking desired lateral agility and burst after changing direction. He has a tendency to be slowed or stopped by first-level tacklers but is a more natural runner once he gets up to the second level. He fails to show enough creativity to escape the “gets what is blocked” tag, but he does run with adequate vision. His lack of breakaway speed and limited special teams background won’t help his chances, so he needs to shine early in camp to give himself an opportunity to make a team as a RB3."

How Rachaad White fits with the Buffalo Bills

After Breece Hall and Kenneth Walker, there is a group of running backs that have some question marks and teams will need to find one or two traits that they can believe they can work with.

For Rachaad White, it is his pass-catching ability and White is one of the better running backs in this area. Last year, he averaged almost four receptions per game with an average of 10.6 yards per reception.

The Buffalo Bills have been looking for a threat in the passing game out of the backfield like White. Last year, they signed Matt Breida as a free agent but his opportunities were limited. If the Bills were to draft White, they would need to ensure he is more involved in the game plan but he is a player that could compliment Devin Singletary very well if Singletary continues to handle a majority of the work on the ground.
