Average Salary of the Deal

Trailing only Hill ($30 million), Adams ($28 million), and Hopkins ($27.25 million), Diggs’ average annual salary of $26 million per year is not resetting the market, but it is ensuring he’s compensated as a Top 5 wideout. I know people want to talk about Hill’s and Adams’ recent deals being the ones that affected Diggs’ deal the most, but I believe the one that did was Christian Kirk’s with Jacksonville.

Kirk is coming off a career year in Arizona where he posted 77 catches for 982 yards and five TDs. But the new Jaguars receiver has never topped 80 catches, 1,000 receiving yards, or seven TDs. By comparison, Diggs has four seasons with 80 or more catches, four with 1,000 yards or more, and four respective campaigns with seven or more TDs.

So it would have been murky water for Buffalo if Diggs’ $14.4 million average remained while Kirk played on a deal worth $18 million per year.

The 2021 season was another strong one for Diggs, as he had 103 catches, with 1,225 yards and a career-high 10 TDs. He was able to extend on what he’s built up over the past three seasons. Since 2019, Diggs’ 2,416 yards against single coverage are the most in the league for any player in that span.
