Buffalo Bills improve their offensive line by signing Rodger Saffold
Over the past week, the offensive line has been a point of focus for the Buffalo Bills as they would release Jon Feliciano and Daryl Williams while also working out a contract extension with center Mitch Morse. These moves all helped create cap space for the Bills this offseason but the release of Feliciano and Williams weakened a position that was already a need.
The good news is that on the first day of the legal tampering period the Bills were able to add a player that should be able to step in right away as a starter and improve the guard position. The team announced they signed Rodger Saffold to a one-year deal.
He was released by the Tennessee Titans last week and since he was released Buffalo was able to sign him to a new deal right away and not wait until Wednesday when free agent deals can be made official.
Saffold spent the past three years with the Tennessee Titans and prior to was with the Rams for nine seasons. This is also where he worked with Aaron Kromer, who the Buffalo Bills brought back this year to be offensive line coach. Kromer was offensive line coach with the Rams in 2017 and 2018 and Saffold said that was one of the reasons he considered joining Buffalo.
Rodger Saffold said he was able to talk to Aaron Kromer right after he was released by the Titans. He said that relationship and the opportunity to play for a championship were reasons he wanted to come to Buffalo.

Buffalo Bills still have work to do to improve the interior of the offensive line
The signing of Saffold is going to be a great addition to the offensive line as he is an excellent run blocker and should help improve the run game next year. However, the Bills will need to still make some moves to shore up this position after releasing Feliciano and Williams.
Even though the Bills did release Daryl Williams, there is a chance they could bring him back according to Mike Garofolo. In addition Ike Boettger and Ryan Bates are both free agents, although Buffalo offered the low tender to Bates.

The signing of Rodger Saffold was a great step in the right direction but the Buffalo Bills will need to add a few more players, either in free agency or the NFL Draft.
