Buffalo Bills Pick 25: Kenyon Green, IOL Texas A&M

Measurables: 6-3, 323lbs

I am sure the Buffalo Bills could go with a couple of options once I was put on the clock at 25, but I ultimately chose Kenyon Green for a couple of reasons. First, Josh Allen’s extension is about to kick in. With Spencer Brown holding down the right tackle spot, having two offensive linemen on rookie deals for the next 3-4 years could be integral to protecting the Bills’ most significant investment in a player ever.

Second, Green was nearly considered a consensus Top 10 pick throughout the college football season in this year’s draft. So why has he fallen to 25 here? It is less of Green falling down boards and other players moving up. Additionally, he projects as a guard in the NFL, which is not often drafted highly.

Lucky for the Bills here they get a Top 10 talent all the way at 25. Green also fits what the Bills love with their lineman, his positional versatility. Green spent significant time at all four offensive line positions other than center in college.

Green is everything you want in a guard at the next level. He is really athletic and powerful and has displayed very strong fundamentals in all his college positions. He is a good pass protector because of his ability to win the initial hand placement and contact with defenders. He also has outstanding balance keeping his lower half grounded and in a great position to thwart a pass rush.

At 25, Green would be an excellent pick for Buffalo, anchoring one of their guard spots for the foreseeable future. He could play on either side, but I would like to see him at left guard to give Allen the Bills solid blindside protection.
