The Buffalo Bills could be active in free agency looking for a pass rusher and they could target a former Los Angeles Chargers outside linebacker

The start of free agency is less than two weeks ago and one of the top priorities for the Buffalo Bills should be to improve their pass rush. They have three players at the position set to be free agents that includes veterans Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison and may want to get younger.

One player that could be a good fit is outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, who the Bills are reportedly interested in. According to Aaron Wilson with Pro Football Network, the Bills along with the Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, and New York Jets will also be looking to sign the former second round pick.

Wilson did also note that the Chargers would like to bring the 25-year old back and Nwosu would like to stay “as long as the money is right”.

Nwosu has appeared in 62 games and this past season was his first as a full-time starter. He finished the year with a career-high five sacks and 17 QB hits. As Aaron Wilson notes in his article, he was able to do this with a labrum injury that could potentially require offseason surgery.

Nwosu would join a young rotation at defensive end for the Buffalo Bills

If the Buffalo Bills were to sign Uchenna Nwosu, it would give the defense a young core for the position with A.J. Epenesa (23 years old), Greg Rousseau (21 years old), and Boogie Basham (24 years old). The hope for the front office would be that these four could develop into a solid rotation.

While Rousseau looked promising as a rookie after starting every regular season game, Basham and Epenesa are still unknowns or haven’t produced like many thought they could. Nwosu would also fit into that category of showing potential but has yet to have that true breakout season.

If the Buffalo Bills were to sign a player like Nwosu, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them bring back Hughes or Addison to help be a leader for this young group. The coaching staff does rotate players regularly at the position so they could manage their workload to make them more effective at this point in their careers.
