Buffalo Bills reportedly met with DT Jordan Davis at NFL Combine
The defensive tackle is a big need for the Buffalo Bills and there isn’t a bigger defensive tackle than Jordan Davis
On Friday, it was the defensive linemen’s turn to meet with the media and one of the top names at the position is former University of Georgia’s defensive tackle Jordan Davis. He was a big part of that national championship defense and will be looking to try to cement his name as one of the top players at his position in this year’s draft class.
The thing that stands out for Jordan Davis is just how big he is at 6’6″ and 341 pounds. Davis is in the 90th percentile in most measurements, as Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus tweeted on Saturday morning.
Buffalo Bills meet with Jordan Davis at the NFL Combine
Even if the Buffalo Bills bring back Harrison Phillips and Justin Zimmer, two players who are set to be free agents this offseason, the defensive tackle position is one that they should address. On Friday, Matt Parrino tweeted that Jordan Davis has met with the Bills during the NFL Combine.
In terms of run defense, he is one of the best at his position and could start almost immediately for any team that drafts him. For the Buffalo Bills, plugging him next to Ed Oliver would give the defense a good duo on the interior.
The biggest concern with Davis though is his pass-rushing, and this is something he seemed to acknowledge from Parrino’s tweet. He did have five sacks last year with the Bulldogs but there is room for improvement.
However, for the Buffalo Bills, this may not be as much of a concern when considering how frequently they rotate players along the defensive line. Star Lotulelei, who isn’t much of a pass rusher has given this defense good snaps over the years and the coaching staff has been able to minimize his struggles getting after the quarterback.
The biggest question will be whether or not general manager Brandon Beane would want to use a first round pick, which is likely where they would need to take him, for a player who might only be a two-down defensive lineman.
