Buffalo Bills 2022 Free Agent Profile: Cornerback Levi Wallace
The Buffalo Bills don’t have many starters from last year set to be free agents but cornerback Levi Wallace is one of the top players who could be looking for a new team this offseason. This is a review of Wallace’s career and whether or not the Bills should re-sign him.
Career Overview
Levi Wallace joined the Buffalo Bills in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. The former University of Alabama cornerback would become a starter midway through his rookie season as the Bills had trouble finding a consistent second cornerback opposite Tre’Davious White.
Wallace would stay in that role for the next four years, starting every game he has played in, 52 games in total, and currently has six interceptions and 30 passes defended.
2022 Season Recap
This past season, Levi Wallace played a much bigger role as he moved from being the second cornerback to being asked to step into that top cornerback spot after Tre’Davious White suffered a torn ACL against the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving night.
For the most part, he played well in that role but it was clear, particularly against the Bucs and Chiefs, that he is better suited as a number two cornerback on this defense.
Should the Buffalo Bills re-sign Levi Wallace?
Last year, the Buffalo Bills were able to bring back Levi Wallace on a one-year deal however after the season he had, Wallace should draw more interest in free agency. There probably isn’t a question about whether or not they want to bring him back but rather if the two sides can agree on a contract that works for both.
The Bills already have Tre’Davious White in a sizable contract and will need to start accounting for the contract extension Josh Allen signed last offseason. This will limit the flexibility they have and Wallace likely will find more money with another team this offseason.
