Buffalo takes a pass rusher for the third straight season with their first pick in the draft. Jermaine Johnson is rising up draft boards and fast. Johnson was absolutely incredible at the Senior Bowl during practices.

Granted, Johnson was not going up against elite talent at the Senior Bowl but what is most impressive is that he could win his reps in every way possible. Watching the tape of Johnson shows that he can win with both power and speed. He also displayed solid use of his hands and a few impressive pass-rushing moves, including this spin.

Johnson started his career at Georgia and got some decent playing time but ultimately transferred for more opportunity. During his last season at Georgia, Johnson had five sacks while battling a shoulder injury that limited him to seven games. Johnson has the production and the eye-popping tape to show he can contribute early on.

While Johnson has not displayed any significant limitations to his game, he is a jack of all trades. This is why Johnson will likely go lower in round one instead of being a top ten selection. In addition to that, after watching some film on Johnson, I would say he is more prepared to impact games as a pass rusher early on in his career.

Taking Johnson would mean the Bills get even younger at defensive end. Considering the pass-rushing talent in this draft, this may be the best defensive end that Brandon Beane could draft in the late first round. Johnson would bolster one of the weakest position groups in Buffalo and likely make a substantial impact on Day 1. Something that the Buffalo Bills need from its top picks.
