Buffalo Bills vs. KC Chiefs: 4 postgame takeaways from divisional round
The defensive line got pressure but couldn’t contain Mahomes
The Buffalo Bills made it a point last offseason to improve their defensive line specifically for this game. The goal was to get pressure on Patrick Mahomes without having to bring extra blitzers.
The Bills achieved that goal on Sunday night as Patrick Mahomes was constantly getting flushed out of the pocket. However, they struggled with containment and missed a number of sacks that could have changed the game.
The Bills did get two sacks, one by Ed Oliver and one by Taron Johnson when Mahomes ran out of bounds. However, the Chiefs quarterback would make plays with his legs and pick up 69 rushing yards, including a 34-yard run, and one rushing touchdown.
This is a position that once again should see some changes but they have to feel good about some of the key pieces here like Greg Rousseau and Boogie Basham.
