Special Teams

It was a great game for the offense and defense but wasn’t necessarily a great night for special teams. The night got off to a rocky start right from the start when Isaiah McKenzie would fumble the opening kickoff. Fortunately, it would go out of bounds and Bills would retain possession.

The other notable issue was that Tyler Bass missed two extra points, with one of them being blocked. This is the first time all season he has missed an extra point. This didn’t impact the outcome of the game but it was certainly surprising.

The highlight of the night for special teams was Micah Hyde, who appears to be the starting punt returner for the rest of the season. In the fourth quarter, Hyde took a punt return 52-yards and looked like he had a chance to score a touchdown but was tripped up by his own teammate who was on the ground after a block.

This will likely go down as one of the most memorable games in Buffalo Bills history. The offense was unstoppable with 482 total yards and seven touchdowns on seven consecutive drives. They always stayed ahead of the chains with only seven third downs all game (and converted six of them).

The offense got the first touchdown of the game but Micah Hyde’s interception seemed to set the tone for this game. The Patriots were moving the ball but Hyde halted that drive quickly and the Bills offense would take over and score their second touchdown of the game.

From that point forward, New England really didn’t make this game. The Bills will now turn their attention to the Divisional Round when their opponent will be determined after the Kansas City Chiefs play the Pittsburgh Steelers.
