ESPN gives the Buffalo Bills a New Year’s resolution in this week’s power rankings

Current Week’s Ranking: 6

Last Week’s Ranking: 7

The Buffalo Bills moved up one spot in the power rankings on ESPN and this has been the case all year with these power rankings, the writers were asked to answer a different question each week. This week, each team was given a New Year’s resolution which Alaina Getzenberg notes as winning one-score games:

"But Buffalo had the potential to take care of its path to the playoffs much earlier. Instead, the Bills have gone 0-5 in one-score games, with the offense having late opportunities to win the game or tie in four of those and falling just short. It’s not an easy thing to fix, like providing gloves for Sean McDermott’s clapping hands or finding a dominant running back of the future, but it’s something that needs to get corrected for a team that should be in contention for years to come. — Alaina Getzenberg"

While the Buffalo Bills have struggled in one-score games, the fact they have only played five all season speaks to the fact that in most of the other games they have been in control and played with a big lead. They only have one game where they got blown out, which was the game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Bills may not have that luxury in the playoffs and this is something they likely need to improve if they hope to have a deep playoff run.
