The depth at wide receiver and offensive line are going to be tested this weekend against the New England Patriots. On Friday morning, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced on WGR550 that wide receiver Gabriel Davis and offensive lineman Cody Ford were added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

These are two positions that have already had players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list with Cole Beasley added on Tuesday and starting left tackle Dion Dawkins added last Friday and offensive guard Jon Feliciano added on Sunday before the Carolina Panthers game.

As Adam Schefter reported, Gabriel Davis is unvaccinated, as is Cole Beasley, and under league protocols, he is out a minimum of 10 days. This means Davis will miss this week’s game against the Patriots as well as next week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. As for Beasley, he could possibly return before next week’s game against the Falcons.

The biggest question now is whether or not Emmanuel Sanders will be able to return. He missed last week’s game against the Panthers due to a knee injury but has been trending towards playing after a limited practice on Wednesday and full practice on Thursday.

If he is able to return, Sanders would return his spot on the outside with Isaiah McKenzie likely replacing Cole Beasley in the slot. If Sanders is not available this week, this could create some playing time for Jake Kumerow or even Isaiah Hodgins, who is currently on the practice squad.

Buffalo Bills are likely to have a new starting offensive line in Week 16

The Buffalo Bills have been forced to shuffle their offensive line on what feels like almost a weekly basis. The absence of Ford, along with the potential absence of Dawkins and Feliciano, means the coaching staff will once again be looking to put together a new offensive line.

Assuming none of those three players are able to return, the Bills have a few options at right guard. Currently, on the 53-man roster, they have Tommy Doyle and Ryan Bates, however, both have primarily played offensive tackle. They also have Jacob Capra, who they recently signed, that is on their practice squad and could be called up this week.

This is far from an ideal situation for the Buffalo Bills and they look like they will be shorthanded entering the biggest game of the season.
