Buffalo Bills: Way-too-early offensive line projections for 2022
Buffalo Bills 2022 starting right guard: Ike Boettger
The right guard position is one that will likely be a training camp battle and if the Bills release Mitch Morse, I don’t believe they will release Daryl Williams. The Bills moved Williams inside to guard midway through the season after he struggled at right tackle to start the year.
However, it is unlikely that the Buffalo Bills would just give Daryl Williams the starting job and they will want to add some competition. The addition of a player like Laken Tomlinson would limit their spending at the position but signing Ike Boettger, who is a free agent after the season, to a multi-year deal could be a cost-efficient move that would pay big dividends.
Each of the past two seasons, Boettger has started the year as a backup but injuries during the season have opened the door for Boettger to be a starter. He has started 16 games in total over that time and has played well enough to certainly have his name in the discussion for earning the starting job right from the start of the year.
I believe if the training camp battle is between Ike Boettger and Daryl Williams, that Boettger would win the job and move Williams into a backup role that can utilize his versatility where he could be the primary backup at both tackle and guard.
