2022 NFL Mock Draft: Buffalo Bills focus on fixing the run game

Round 1, 20th Overall: David Ojabo, EDGE (Michigan)

While the focus is the run game, general manager Brandon Beane has always shown a strategy of adding the best overall player in the early parts of NFL Drafts. For the Bills, that is David Ojabo out of the University of Michigan.

The defensive end position has been a point of focus over the past few years with the selections of A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, and Boogie Basham however the production still hasn’t been there this year. The Bills only have 23 sacks on the season and 11 in the past 10 games.

They also have three players who are set to be free agents after the year in Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, and Efe Obada so adding another top-tier pass rusher would make sense.

As for Ojabo, he has had an incredible season with 11 sacks and 12 tackles for a loss playing on the opposite of Aidan Hutchinson. There will be questions about whether his production was due to having Hutchinson on the other side and his lack of experience (this was his first and only full season as a starter).

However, he does have the physical tools to be an excellent pass rusher and the Bills have shown that the questions Ojabo has have not been a concern, as evidenced by the selection of Rousseau last year.
