The weather has certainly played a factor in the opening quarter between the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots. Both teams have tried to keep their offense on the ground and both have had mistakes that have led to points for the other team.

The Patriots got on the board first on a 64-yard touchdown run by Damien Harris after Matt Breida fumbled a handoff from Josh Allen. The Bills didn’t get much going on their next offensive drive and were forced to punt.

Matt Haack, with the wind behind his back, was able to flip the field on a 54-yard punt. However, N’Keal Harry was not able to bring in the punt and the ball bounced off his helmet which Siran Neal was able to recover.

It took only one play before the Buffalo Bills found the end zone as Josh Allen found Gabriel Davis down the middle of the field between two defenders to cut the Patriots lead down to 8-7 after a Tyler Bass extra point.

Gabriel Davis is finding more of a role in the Buffalo Bills’ offense

After a promising rookie season, it has been a slow start to the year for Gabriel Davis. He has been behind Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders on the depth chart and targets have been tough to come by.

However, his playing time and opportunities have been growing in recent weeks with three or more targets in each of the past three weeks and 40% or more of the offensive snaps in two of those games.

The touchdown against the New England Patriots was his first touchdown since Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins. If he continues to make plays when given the chance, his role in this offense should only continue to grow down the stretch with the Buffalo Bills.
