Fantasy football expectations for Josh Allen in Week 13 against the Patriots
What should fantasy football managers expect from Josh Allen against the New England Patriots in Week 13?
Josh Allen bounced back on Thanksgiving night against the New Orleans Saints to throw for over 260 passing yards, with four touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran more than he had in prior weeks with eight rushing attempts for 43 yards.
The performance is notable because while the Saints were missing a number of starters on offense they didn’t have that issue on defense. New Orleans has had a pretty good defense this year with players like Marshon Lattimore, Cameron Jordan, and Demario Davis so this game can’t be dismissed as Allen just taking advantage of a weak defense.
Unfortunately, the Bills quarterback is going to be going up against a tough defense in the New England Patriots. According to NFL.com, over the past four weeks the Patriots are allowing the fewest points to a quarterback for an average of only 4.10 points per game.
Should you start Josh Allen in Week 13 against the New England Patriots?
For most of the season, Josh Allen has been a must-start and at times has looked that way regardless of the opponent. This week could give managers some pause and at least consider other options.
The Patriots have not given up much to opposing quarterbacks and are forcing them into mistakes with nine interceptions over the past four weeks with only two passing touchdowns given up.
There is also the potential for some bad weather with snow and wind in the forecast for Monday night.
However, this could work in Josh Allen’s favor and the Buffalo Bills may look to use him more as a runner. There is the potential for a bust week for Josh Allen but his rushing ability gives him enough of a floor that he should finish in the Top 12 this week and should be viewed as a low-end QB1.
