Ranking the players on the Buffalo Bills to replace Tre’Davious White

2. Cam Lewis

Cam Lewis has been with the Buffalo Bills since 2019 when they signed him as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Buffalo. He spent his entire rookie season on the practice squad and the Bills brought him back in 2020.

Last season, Lewis bounced between the practice squad and the active roster, appearing in the first three regular season games on special teams. Then in Week 5, Lewis started his first career game against the Tennessee Titans in place of Tre’Davious White, who was dealing with a back injury.

The Bills got blown out but Cam Lewis played well enough to get the start in place of Taron Johnson, who was struggling at the time, as the team’s starting nickel corner. This didn’t last long as Lewis suffered a season-ending ankle injury about 10 plays into the game.

Lewis is currently on the Buffalo Bills 53-man roster but has been a healthy scratch for most of the year. However, he did start in Week 4 against the Houston Texans in place of Taron Johnson and that is the biggest concern for Cam Lewis.

At only 5’9″ and 183 pounds, Lewis is seemingly a better fit inside at nickel than trying to match up against bigger wide receivers on the outside. The coaching staff has looked to him in the past to play that role and may give another shot but right now he probably isn’t their top option.
