3. Kansas City Chiefs (6-4)

The Kansas City Chiefs entered the season once again as the favorite to be atop the AFC, leaving the rest of the conference to chase them for most of the season. However, this year has not played out that way and after a win over the Browns, they would lose four out of their next six games. This stretch included losses to the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, and Tennessee Titans.

They were playing uncharacteristic football as the offense was struggling and in particular former MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs seemed to right the ship with two straight wins, with a home victory over the Packers and then this past week against the Raiders, blowing them out 41-14.

The Chiefs have shown over the years that they don’t need a dominant defense if Patrick Mahomes is playing at a high level. If Mahomes has truly turned a corner and starts playing better, the Kansas City Chiefs won’t lose many games but have ground to make up after losing head-to-head matchups with the next two teams.
