The Buffalo Bills will enter Sunday against the New York Jets without a key part of their defense. On Friday, the team ruled starting middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds out for this weekend’s game.

This wasn’t necessarily surprising as Edmunds had not been able to practice at all this week due to a hamstring injury. Before Friday’s practice, head coach Sean McDermott confirmed that it would be primarily A.J. Klein replacing Edmunds but also noted Tyrel Dodson could see some snaps, according to Matt Parrino.

The only other player to carry an injury designation was running back Zack Moss. He is dealing with a concussion and had been a limited participant on Thursday and Friday but is questionable for this weekend’s game.

Buffalo Bills expected to have two starters back on offense

It appears that Spencer Brown and Dawson Knox are trending to returning this week against the New York Jets with neither having an injury designation. Both players have missed the past two weeks due to injuries but after a limited practice on Wednesday and full participation on Thursday and Friday, they look to be in line to return.

The return of Brown would mean the Bills can move Daryl Williams back to right guard with the rookie starting at right tackle. While it was only three games the team had these two starting together, the offensive line as a whole did play better during that stretch.

Taron Johnson clears concussion protocol

While the Bills are going to be without Edmunds, it does look like starting nickel Taron Johnson will be able to return this week. Sean McDermott confirmed on Friday that he had cleared concussion protocol and should be able to play.

This will be a big boost for the defense as the Jets have good slot wide receivers in Jamison Crowder and Elijah Moore. This will be a key matchup to watch in Week 10 for the Buffalo Bills.
