Vernon Butler

The Buffalo Bills signed defensive lineman Vernon Butler last year to help add depth to the defensive tackle position. However, once Star Lotulelei opted out of the 2020 season Butler’s role grew and he played in 14 games, starting nine of them.

Even with Lotulelei returning this season, Butler was still expected to be a key part of the rotation at the position. That hasn’t been the case with him a healthy scratch for three games and in the five games he has played, Butler hasn’t really been that productive. He has only two tackles and one QB hit while playing roughly 28% of the defensive snaps.

At this point in the season, the Bills should be looking to give these snaps to Justin Zimmer who has been more productive than Vernon Butler.
