The Buffalo Bills quarterback is moving up in the power rankings after his performance against the Miami Dolphins

This week’s power rankings for the MVP race saw a great deal of movement, due to some players who were in the conversation struggling, as well as a big injury. The past few weeks, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has been in the discussion for the MVP. While running backs haven’t typically won the award, Henry was having a historic season.

However, the star running back suffered a foot injury that is going to force him to miss most of the season, which has taken him out of the discussion for the award. Entering Week 9, this is how I rank the contenders for the award starting with a group of honorable mentions.

Honorable Mentions

The honorable mentions group includes players that are one or two big performances away from moving up into the rankings. However, one player who has been in the discussion but is dropping is Chargers’ quarterback Justin Herbert.

He started the year very well but has now had back-to-back subpar games with only 418 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and three interceptions combined during that time. The Chargers also have lost both those games.

Also in this group is Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow, who actually had a decent statistical game against the Jets with 259 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. However, the Bengals came up short against one of the worst teams in the league and it is hard to move him into the Top 5.
