ESPN: Buffalo Bills fall outside of the Top 5, drop to sixth despite a win over Dolphins

Current Week’s Ranking: 6

Last Week’s Ranking: 5

The Buffalo Bills secured the win in Week 8 over the Miami Dolphins but it wasn’t enough to remain in the Top 5. This week, ESPN looked at each team’s biggest Achilles heel and Alaina Getzenberg selection may come as a surprise:

"Buffalo doesn’t punt often (third fewest in the NFL with 21). But when Matt Haack has been needed, he has been inconsistent, averaging a net of 36.1 yards (second lowest of any team). Only 28.6% of his punts have been taken over inside the 20-yard line."

There is no question special teams, particularly punting has to be a concern for the Bills. The decision to not bring back Corey Bojorquez and sign Haack has not worked out like many would have hoped. This past week against the Dolphins, was a perfect example as Haack had a 19-yard punt.

However, as Getzenberg notes, the Bills don’t punt often and that is why I believe the run game has to be the team’s biggest Achilles heel. The Buffalo Bills are a pass-heavy offense but late in games, the Bills could use an effective run game to chew the clock.
