Buffalo Bills Trade Target #3: Lee Smith
The third trade the Buffalo Bills could make to help their run game is by adding a run-blocking tight end to provide a little more help to the offensive line. One of the better run-blocking tight ends in the league is one they are familiar with and actually traded away in the offseason.
The team traded Lee Smith to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2022 seventh round pick. Smith started his career with the Bills and played with them from 2011 to 2014 and after four seasons with the Raiders returned to the Bills to play the past two seasons with them.
It remains to be seen if the Falcons would be interested in trading Smith, and even if the Buffalo Bills would be interested in making a trade to bring him back. However, the Falcons have a crowded tight end room with Kyle Pitts and Hayden Hurst and at 3-4 may be looking for draft picks to help rebuild.
If Smith is not an option, the Buffalo Bills could also look at Eric Ebron. The Steelers tight end has improved as a run blocker and said this offseason he changed his attitude towards run blocking and is committed to it.
