Final thoughts from the Buffalo Bills win in Week 8

Cole Beasley helps spark the offense in the second half- The Buffalo Bills offense didn’t look much better on the first drive of the second half. However, after that, the offense started to find a rhythm and it was due in large part to Cole Beasley.

On the second drive of the second half, the Bills put together a 13-play drive where Beasley had four receptions for 44 yards. Then on the next drive, Beasley added two receptions for 31 yards and the Bills ended that drive with another touchdown to essentially put the game out of reach.

Beasley finished the game with 10 receptions on 13 targets and 110 receiving yards and had his best game of the season.

Tyler Bass gives the Buffalo Bills a competitive advantage- It doesn’t really matter the situation fans should have confidence that when Tyler Bass steps onto the field for a field goal attempt, it is going to result in points. On Sunday, Bass connected on his two field goal attempts of 57 and 53.

That is where the competitive advantage comes into play because of the leg strength of Bass, which takes some pressure off the Bills offense because of how much range their starting kicker has. This was a tight game and the fact the Bills had a kicker who could hit kicks that long, is such an advantage.

Defense dominated almost the entire game- The Buffalo Bills offense didn’t get going until the second half but the defense played very well almost the entire game. They kept the Dolphins’ run game in check with only 68 rushing yards and an average of only 3.0 yards per carry.

The Dolphins had a little more success through the air but not much as they didn’t surpass 200 passing yards until late in the fourth quarter with the game mostly already out of reach. After the disappointing performance against the Titans before the bye, this was a great bounce back game for this group.

Late in the game, the defense really dialed it up with a strip sack by Jerry Hughes and while they didn’t recover the fumble, they forced the win-sealing turnover when Jordan Poyer intercepted Tua Tagovailoa.

The Buffalo Bills will now hit the road and face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9 with a 5-2 record and firmly in first place in the AFC East.
