More thoughts on the Buffalo Bills in Week 8

Offense was out of sync in the first half- This was a game the Buffalo Bills were expected to run away with but in the first half, the Bills offense could not get into any kind of rhythm. They were coming out of their bye and that may have contributed but the Bills have typically played well coming out of their bye week under Sean McDermott.

The Bills finished the first half with only 122 total yards, failed to reach the red zone, and had only one drive end in points, which was a 57-yard field goal by Tyler Bass.

Ed Oliver makes an impact in Week 8- While it wasn’t a pretty first half for the Buffalo Bills, one player who did play well was defensive tackle Ed Oliver. The Bills starting defensive tackle had two tackles and one tackle for a loss and was a disruptive force for most of the first two quarters.

When the Bills drafted Oliver in the Top 10, these were the type of games they envisioned for him. The way he is able to collapse the pocket and make plays behind the line of scrimmage helps make life a little easier for the players around him.

Dolphins made bigger mistakes than Bills in the first half- The Buffalo Bills made more than their fair share of mistakes in the first half, but it was the Miami Dolphins that really helped keep the game close with bigger missteps.

The Dolphins did it early in the game after Jason Saunders missed a 36-yard field after a 12-play drive on their first offensive drive. Then to end the first half, the Dolphins were inside the 10 yard line and almost guaranteed to put points on the board when Mike Gesicki ran through the snap, causing a fumble which the Bills recovered to keep the game tied.
