Did Josh Allen move in this week’s MVP power rankings during the Buffalo Bills bye week?

The halfway point of the 2021 season is nearly here and the MVP race seems to be heating up. In fact, it seems more players are putting together performances that should have them in the discussion and this is shaping up to be one of the more competitive MVP races in recent memory.

While Tom Brady is going to be in the discussion (and potentially the favorite), there is a number of players in the race who haven’t won the award yet. This is where the MVP race stands entering Week 8, starting with the honorable mentions.

MVP Power Rankings: Honorable Mentions

Last week, I had listed cornerback Trevon Diggs and Justin Herbert in this group and both players were on bye so didn’t have a chance to make their way into the Top 5.

However, they are now joined by Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who threw for over 400 passing yards with three touchdowns and one interception against the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals are now 5-2 and one of the top teams in the AFC and this is due in large part to their quarterback.

Burrow is joined in the honorable mentions by the quarterback he faced this past week, Lamar Jackson. The Ravens quarterback had an incredible stretch of games earlier in the season but has struggled as of late with only 424 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, two interceptions, and sacked a total of eight times with 139 rushing yards in the past two weeks.
