ESPN: Buffalo Bills fall three spots during their bye week

Current Week’s Ranking: 5

Last Week’s Ranking: 2

For the second straight week, the Buffalo Bills fall in ESPN’s Power Rankings after being ranked first after their win over the Kansas City Chiefs. That win isn’t looking as impressive now after the Chiefs lost for a second straight week, this time to the Titans.

This week, ESPN answered the question of which preseason prediction was missed for each team. Alaina Getzenberg discussed the fact that it was thought the Bills defense would take some time to get going with a tough set of games to start the year:

"Yes, the loss to a good Titans team was tough, but five of the first six games of the season were against teams in the playoffs last year or in contention. Buffalo came away holding two teams scoreless and outscoring other opponents by wide margins. The Bills have unexpectedly shown how dominant they can be and that this defense can be one of the top units in the league, with an easier stretch of games still to come. — Alaina Getzenberg"

The Bills’ defense certainly hasn’t had that problem as they rank in the Top 3 in a number of defensive categories like yards allowed, points allowed, and turnovers. As Getzenberg notes, the schedule gets much easier and this defense can really show how good they can be with games against the Dolphins, Jaguars, and Jets upcoming.
