Even in a loss, Josh Allen still played great for the Buffalo Bills against the Titans.

This is the sixth entry into the 2021 Josh Allen Game Grades series. Each week, Josh Allen’s numbers, decision making, and overall performance will be reviewed and given a letter grade.

In Week 6, the Buffalo Bills suffered a heartbreaking 34-31 loss to the Tennessee Titans, who seem to have their number as of late. The offense was certainly not the problem for Buffalo on Monday night.

Josh Allen’s stat line on the night was great. He completed 35 of 47 passes for 353 yards, three touchdown passes, and an interception.

Allen was not as efficient this week as he was in Week 5, but it is a daunting task to be as efficient on 47 attempts as you were on 26. He averaged 7.5 yards per pass attempt, which is way down from the 12.1 yards an attempt he averaged against the Chiefs in Week 5.

The passing game was unstoppable all night against a banged up Tennessee secondary. The mid-range passing game in particular was lethal, as Allen connected over and over again with the likes of Stefon Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, and Cole Beasley. Diggs tallied nine catches for 89 yards, Sanders caught five passes for 91 yards, and Beasley registered seven catches for 88 yards. That is about as balanced as you could ask for.

Allen made some great throws on Monday night. His touchdown passes to Diggs and Beasley were great in their own right, as well as a well placed back shoulder throw to Emmanuel Sanders on the final drive of the game, but his cross body throw to Gabriel Davis later on that same drive may have been the most impressive, given the arm talent needed to make said throw.

Josh Allen’s decision making was fine against the Titans. His lone interception came from a pass where Denico Autry hit his arm as he was throwing. Other than that, Allen was again smart with the ball.

Allen was very good on Monday night, finishing with a 107.8 passer rating. Allen nearly stole the show on primetime again in Week 6 when he leaped for the first down on a 3rd down scramble during Buffalo’s final drive, but was ruled just short on a placement that could have gone either way. Tennessee’s defense made an excellent stand on the very next play when they stuffed Allen on 4th and 1 to seal the win.

Josh Allen’s Week 6 Grade: A-

Josh Allen receives an A- grade for his performance in Week 6. Allen was very good against the Titans, but could not get the one yard he needed to in all likelihood set the Bills up to win the game.

Week 6 was a heartbreaking loss for Buffalo, but Bills fans should be encouraged by Allen’s performance. He again showed out against a good AFC opponent and was inches away from likely winning them the game. Allen will look to continue his great run of play when the Bills host the Dolphins on Halloween in Week 8.
