2. Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills)
The second spot in the MVP race currently belongs to Josh Allen after his impressive performance against the Chiefs. Through five games, he has 1,370 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns and only two interceptions. He also has 188 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns this season.
Allen got off to a slow start in the first two weeks but has been putting up bigger numbers recently. In Week 3, when he won AFC Offensive Player of the Week, he had 358 passing yards and five total touchdowns and in two of the last three weeks has had four or more total touchdowns.
If there is one thing that could hinder his chances is how great the Bills’ defense is. They are playing excellent football which allows the Buffalo Bills to build big leads and takes pressure off Josh Allen.
This is a great formula for winning football but doesn’t necessarily work for individual awards. If Josh Allen wins the award this year, he will need to not only be efficient but also protect the football and limit mistakes with limited opportunities.
