This is the fifth entry into the 2021 Josh Allen Game Grades series. Each week, Josh Allen’s numbers, decision making, and overall performance will be reviewed and given a letter grade.

In Week 5, the Buffalo Bills notched what may be their most impressive win yet in a 38-20 victory over the Chiefs. The Buffalo offense absolutely tore the Kansas City defense apart.

Josh Allen’s stat line on the night was fantastic. He completed 15 of 26 passes for 315 yards, three touchdown passes.

Allen was as efficient in this win as he has ever been. He averaged 12.1 yards per pass attempt, way up from the 8.5 yards an attempt he averaged in Week 4. Allen connected several deep shots, including a masterful throw on a touchdown to Emmanuel Sanders.

The passing game was exceptional all game long, as Allen continued to build upon the hot streak that he and Dawson Knox have built when they connected on a 54 yard touchdown where Knox was wide open.

Josh Allen’s decision making was great in this game. He had a deep ball picked off in the fourth quarter by Rashad Fenton, but it was negated by a questionable roughing the passer call. Other than that one throw, Allen was smart with the ball against the Chiefs.

Allen was on fire in this game, finishing with a 139.1 passer rating and 91.6 QBR. Perhaps the highlight of the night for Josh Allen was his incredible hurdle over L’Jarius Sneed on a 3rd and 4 on the 12 play, 85 yard touchdown drive in the fourth quarter that sealed the win for the Bills.

Josh Allen’s Week 5 Grade: A+

Josh Allen receives an A+ grade for his performance in Week 5. Allen was electric against the Chiefs, and put his name right back on top of the MVP race.

Week 5 may have been Josh Allen’s best performance yet. He showed out against the team who many considered to be Buffalo’s boogeyman. He and the Bills slayed the beast that is the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5, and will look to carry that momentum into a Week 6 showdown with the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football.
