By Aaron Tully
This is the third entry into the 2021 Josh Allen Game Grades series. Each week, Josh Allen’s numbers, decision-making, and overall performance will be reviewed and given a letter grade.
In Week 3, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills dominated the Washington Football Team in a lopsided 43-21 win to improve to 2-1 on the 2021 campaign. The passing game finally clicked for the Bills in their victory over Washington, and the defense continued its hot start to the 2021 season.
Josh Allen’s stat line on the day was fantastic; one that was more than Bills fans could have hoped for. He completed 32 of 43 passes for 358 yards, four touchdown passes, and a rushing touchdown to make it five scores on the day.
Allen’s efficiency was much improved in his Week 3 performance. He averaged 8.3 yards per pass attempt, up almost 3 yards an attempt from Week 2. Allen made some stellar throws in Week 3, the two touchdown passes to Emmanuel Sanders stand out as his two best throws of the afternoon.
The passing game finally found the rhythm they flashed in 2020. The first three scoring drives were all excellent, but the 17-play, 98-yard touchdown drive that Josh Allen led in the third quarter was masterful.
Josh Allen’s decision-making was night and day compared to a week ago. Allen finished the day without turning the ball over which is an improvement on the last two weeks. Allen did not really make any atrocious decisions this week, and Bills fans can only hope things stay that way.
Allen looked as comfortable as ever on Sunday. He was clicking on all cylinders, and his connection with Emmanuel Sanders was on full display. The offense was absolutely on fire in Week 3.
Josh Allen’s Game Grade from Week 3: A+
Josh Allen receives an A+ grade for his performance in Week 3. You can’t ask for much more than over 360 total yards and five touchdowns without a turnover. He made some fantastic throws and looked like the MVP runner-up he was a season ago.
Josh Allen put together a masterful effort in Week 3. Obviously, the hope is that this was the game that gets the ball rolling for Allen and the offense from now until February. That is why early-season overreactions are exactly that; overreactions.
