Buffalo Bills: 3 career milestones Josh Allen reached in Week 3
Josh Allen had his best game of the 2021 season in Week 3 against the Washington Football Team. He would finish the game with 358 passing yards and five total touchdowns by throwing four touchdowns and adding one more on the ground.
However, it wasn’t just a good game for the Buffalo Bills quarterback but also one where he reached a number of career milestones, which also included a franchise record.
Josh Allen sets franchise record for rushing touchdowns by a QB
The first career milestone was Josh Allen scoring his 26th career rushing touchdown, which was enough to move him past Jack Kemp who finished his career with 25. One of the reasons Josh Allen is unique and such a threat in the NFL is his ability to make plays with his legs.
Early in his career this was the highlight of his game but that has taken a back seat as he has developed into a passer. This threat to run has never gone away and he continues to put pressure on opposing defenses, especially around the goal line.
That is exactly what he did on Sunday against the Washington Football Team when he was able to scramble out of the pocket after not finding a receiver open and jog into the end zone.
He has now surpassed Jack Kemp in almost half the number of games as he had his 26th rushing touchdown in 47 games compared to Kemp reaching 25 touchdowns in 88 games. Allen is now tied for seventh all-time with Antowain Smith for rushing touchdowns and if has five more rushing touchdowns before the end of the season will be tied with Cookie Gilchrist for third.
