Buffalo Bills widely stationary in latest NFL power rankings
Week 3 NFL Power Rankings were released throughout sports media and the Buffalo Bills win over the Miami Dolphins hardly propelled the winning team into the tops of these rankings
Following a remarkable trouncing over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday, the Buffalo Bills remain largely immobile in many power rankings across sports media outlets.
Some might have expected a reasonable leap to the top of lists after such a dominating performance. However, the season is still young. And coming off a humbling loss in Week 1 —and other teams around the league standing firm—there just isn’t much room for the Bills to vault to the top this week. Here are where the Bills rank in power rankings around the media heading into Week 3.
ESPN: Football Power Index (FPI) Buffalo Bills stand fast as the fifth best team in these rankings
Current Rank: 5
Last Week: 5
After dropping two spots just last week, the Bills stay put at the conclusion of Week 2. A blowout victory over an obviously inferior opponent did nothing to persuade NFL Nation media members that the Bills deserved to be viewed more highly. However, their balance was noted in the review.
"“The Bills’ offense finished 20th in rushing yards per game in 2020 (107.7). The offense becoming more balanced this season would be big for the team going forward. Thus far, Singletary has shown that he is up to the task.” —Alaina Getzenberg"
The NFL isn’t about being balanced anymore. It’s about being multiple; being able to implement different game plans and attacking favorable matchups. The Bills are a passing team. And everything they have done with their roster over the past few seasons certainly represents that.
Although the Bills remain at no. 5, it’s notable that both the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers jumped into the Top 3, two teams the Bills beat handily just a season ago.
