Taron Johnson
At the top of this list is nickel corner Taron Johnson, who has picked up right where he left off last year. The third-year corner was benched midway through last season but after an injury to Cam Lewis against the Kansas City Chiefs, Johnson has been playing exceptional football.
The game against the Dolphins had more highlight plays with a sack and forced fumble but he was steady in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers with seven total tackles and allowing only two completions on five targets.
The play by Johnson hasn’t gone unnoticed with the coaching staff and Leslie Frazier said after the Dolphins game that Taron Johnson is “one of the best slot corners in the league.”
