Buffalo Bills offense struggles early but finishes first half with touchdown

The Buffalo Bills have a 10-0 lead at halftime even after the offense struggled early against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There was no question that entering this game, the expectation was that this would be a close game and was probably going to be a defensive struggle. That has certainly how it has shaped up but a late touchdown in the first half gives the Buffalo Bills a 10-0 lead at halftime.

The Bills opening drive even though was three and out, it did end with a field goal thanks to a 75-yard return by Isaiah McKenzie. Since that drive though, the Bills had three straight drives end with a punt and then a Josh Allen fumble.

This was actually Allen’s second fumble of the game, but the first one that he lost.

While the Steelers defense is excellent, there have been opportunities that the Bills have just missed with a couple of deep passes to Stefon Diggs and Emmanuel Sanders that have not been on target.

In addition, holding penalties were an issue, especially on the second drive. The Buffalo Bills had two first downs that would ultimately be called back due to holding penalties on Dion Dawkins and Mitch Morse.

However, the offense seemed to come together on the final drive of the first half and Josh Allen looked to get into a rhythm, with Gabriel Davis being the key receiver on that drive. He had two big plays with the first being a 37-yard reception and then catching a three-yard touchdown from Josh Allen.

Josh Allen finished the first half completing 16 of 26 passes for 151 yards, one touchdown and one fumble lost. The Buffalo Bills will be looking to build off that success in the second half and try to extend their double-digit lead.
