Buffalo Bills Defense

Grade: B+

The Buffalo Bills had one of their most dominant performances in the preseason in recent memory. The Bills held the Lions and Bears to 15 points in each game and then shut out the Green Bay Packers.

One of the reasons the defense played as well as they did was up front along the defensive line. If the preseason is any indication, this is going to be a very good pass rush. The impressive performance by Greg Rousseau, who had two sacks, along with the development of A.J. Epenesa, who was regularly getting pressure, is going to be a big boost for an area the team wanted to improve from last season.

The Bills also did a good job forcing turnovers during the preseason with two interceptions (one against the Bears, one against the Packers) as well as a forced fumble in the Bears game. If the defensive front can continue to get pressure on the quarterback, turnover opportunities are going to certainly increase this season.

If there is a concern, and this is why the Bills didn’t get an A, is the run game continues to appear to be a weakness for this group. The Buffalo Bills struggled against the run last year and in the preseason once again it seemed to be an issue, specifically against the Packers.
