The pass rush has been a bright spot for this defense all preseason and they have gotten great performances from all their young pass rushers, including A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, and Boogie Basham.

That group also includes Darryl Johnson, who has shown really good development as a defensive end in these two preseason games. In the first two years in the league, Johnson made his impact on special teams and has been a key contributor in that part of the game.

He never really could make the same impact on defense and struggled to move up the depth chart at the position. While Johnson likely hasn’t moved up the depth chart, it certainly isn’t due to a lack of production.

In the game against the Bears, Johnson had three total tackles, 0.5 sacks, one pass defended, and two QB hits. When considering what he has shown as a pass rusher, combined with his performance on special teams, the Buffalo Bills may have to seriously consider keeping six defensive ends on the 53-man roster.
