Powell didn’t do anything noticeably wrong in Saturday’s win, but he certainly lost ground in the battle to handle returns for Buffalo.

The former Atlanta Falcons receiver gained 17 yards on his lone punt return and 19 yards on one kick return. It was an unspectacular performance, especially when compared to Marquez Stevenson’s outing.

The 2021 sixth-round pick returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown midway through the third quarter. This marked the second-straight week that Stevenson has supplied a game-breaking play for the Bills, as in the previous game, he hauled in a 42-yard reception that helped set up Buffalo’s game-winning field goal.

With Stevenson putting some impressive footage on tape this preseason, Powell needs to make some splash plays if he wants to stay on the squad.

Through two games, Powell’s averaged 18 yards on two kick returns and 8.5 yards on two punt returns while adding seven receptions for 37 yards.
