Buffalo Bills: Marquez Stevenson suffers injury, gets x-ray on ankle/foot

 Buffalo Bills rookie Marquez Stevenson is reportedly getting an x-ray on his foot/ankle

The Buffalo Bills ran away from the Chicago Bears in the first half on the scoreboard after building a 34-6 lead at halftime. Then in the second half, it was rookie Marquez Stevenson running away from the Chicago Bears on the field as he returned a punt for a touchdown.

This certainly is exciting news as the position battle to replace Andre Roberts appeared to be heating up with Stevenson returning a punt for a touchdown while Isaiah McKenzie fumbled a punt in the first half, which he recovered.

However, Stevenson appears to have suffered an injury after that play and the Buffalo Bills announced that the speedy wide receiver is currently having an x-ray on his ankle/foot.

The Bills initially announced that he was questionable to return but the fact that he is getting an x-ray likely indicates that his day is done. The Buffalo Bills did announce that the x-ray was negative.

Marquez Stevenson has played well this preseason for the Buffalo Bills

The path to making the 53-man roster was likely to be tough for Marquez Stevenson but that is not due to a lack of effort from the former University of Houston wide receiver. He had the play of the game last week against the Detroit Lions on the team’s final drive when he caught a 42-yard reception on fourth down that set the Bills up for the game-winning field goal by Tyler Bass.

Before the injury, Stevenson had one reception for three yards, one kickoff return for 26 yards along with the 79-yard punt return for a touchdown.

The challenge for Stevenson is just the talent the Buffalo Bills have at the wide receiver position. There were essentially five positions already locked in with Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, Emmanuel Sanders, Gabriel Davis, and Isaiah McKenzie on the team. This left one final spot that was going to come down to Jake Kumerow and Marquez Stevenson but Kumerow has had an excellent training camp this year and looked to be the favorite.

Hopefully, Marquez Stevenson is able to return for the Buffalo Bills final preseason game next week.
