Buffalo Bills: 53-man roster prediction before second preseason game
Offensive Line (10)
Dion Dawkins (LT), Jon Felciano (LG), Mitch Morse (C), Cody Ford (RG), Daryl Williams (RT), Spencer Brown (T), Ike Boettger (G), Ryan Bates (C), Jamil Douglas (G), Tommy Doyle (T)
Cuts: Forrest Lamp (G), Jordan Devey (G), Jack Anderson (G), Tyler Gauthier (C), Steven Gonzalez (G), Bobby Hart (T)
The offensive line group is the most different from the first roster prediction. Forrest Lamp drops to the outside and Ryan Bates and Jamil Douglas hop onto the roster for Buffalo. A couple of different things are happening here. First, the starting lineup is nearly set. Four spots are locked in as Ike Boettger and Cody Ford are dealing for the last spot.
Spencer Brown has shown up and downs but is a lock because of his draft status. Ryan Bates will likely not be a starter for Buffalo but he offers the most versatility of anyone in the group. He can play across the entire line which brings value to Buffalo. Jamil Douglas has been a pleasant surprise in camp and I think Buffalo sees value in his veteran status and experience.
Lastly is a tough one with Tommy Doyle at tackle. Buffalo has been known to not cut their recent draft picks. Tommy Doyle was a fifth round pick who has tons of potential due to his elite frame. I see Buffalo keeping him on the roster and as a gameday inactive nearly all season unless there are injuries. What makes this group interesting is the Buffalo could also look outside of what they currently have and maybe bring in a new face particularly at tackle where their depth is inexperienced.
Most of the players listed as cuts do not have much of a chance to make the roster and are fighting for a spot on the practice squad. Outside of Forrest Lamp, it is hard to see a path for any of those players to make the team on the final cut-down day.
