Defensive Tackle

Staying on the defensive line, one surprise was to see Justin Zimmer listed on the second team behind Ed Oliver. Zimmer was a free agent signing in the middle of training camp last year and considered to be a long-shot to make the roster.

However, he made a good impression and earned a spot on the practice squad which eventually became a full-time spot on the 53-man roster. The Buffalo Bills re-signed Zimmer this offseason and he now appears to not only have a good chance at the 53-man roster but will be a key part of the rotation at defensive tackle.

Conversely, Harrison Phillips was listed on the third team and appears to have some work to do if he hopes to move up the depth chart, or even have a spot on the 53-man roster. The former third round pick is entering the final year of his rookie contract and could be on the bubble heading into the preseason.
