AFC East Offensive Grades: Buffalo Bills offense still class of division
Running Back
New England Patriots: 1
Buffalo Bills: 2
Miami Dolphins: 3
New York Jets: 4
Damien Harris is the best RB in this division and he was very efficient in 2020, rushing for 5.0-yards-per-carry on 137 attempts. James White is coming off a down year, but he’s just one season removed from hauling in 72 receptions, 645 yards, and five touchdowns.
The Bills come in at number two simply because their running back room is a little deeper than the others. Both Zack Moss and Devin Singletary rushed for over 4.0-yards-per-carry last year while combining for 1,168 yards.
Miami’s running back room sits third, as Myles Gaskin was competent enough as a rookie to enter this season as the starter. Not a flashy player, Gaskin was productive in all four of his seasons at the University of Washington and rushed for 584 yards on 142 carries while also adding 388 yards on 41 receptions in his first season.
New York ranks fourth as its backfield has a lot of unknowns. Michael Carter looks promising as he flashed at the University of North Carolina as both a rusher and receiver. The squad also signed Tevin Coleman, but at 28-years-old and just finishing a season that was hampered by a knee injury, there shouldn’t be high expectations in place for him.
