Familiarity with playmakers

It is easy to forget after the season Josh Allen had how many questions he, and the Bills offense, had entering the season. One of those questions was how the Bills quarterback might do with their new star receiver, Stefon Diggs.

Those questions were answered fairly early but it really wasn’t until the second half of the year that these two players really came together. One of the reasons could have been due to the fact there were limited offseason workouts and no preseason games due to the pandemic.

However, it wasn’t only Diggs that the Bills quarterback had to build a relationship with. In fact, the group of Diggs, Gabriel Davis, and Zack Moss accounted for 43% of targets last year. That is a significant number of players who are catching passes from Josh Allen for the first time.

This year, Josh Allen doesn’t have as many new playmakers around him to build that connection. The two players who could see targets is Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Jacob Hollister. However, Hollister isn’t really new as he played college football with Josh Allen.

This familiarity with playmakers should allow Josh Allen to get off to a fast start and remain as the top scoring quarterback in fantasy football this year.
