The Buffalo Bills should feel good about where their offense is at this point in the season. The development of Josh Allen certainly is a big reason for that but they also have playmakers like Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, Emmanuel Sanders, and Devin Singletary around the franchise quarterback.

Even though the offense is the strength of this team, this doesn’t necessarily mean that general manager Brandon Beane and the Bills organization aren’t still discussing ways of improving.

One of the ways they could improve this group is at tight end. The Bills still have Dawson Knox, who they drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and has been the starter the past two seasons. He is joined by Tommy Sweeney, who was a seventh-round pick in 2018 and is set to re-join the team after missing all of last year.

They also signed Jacob Hollister, who was previously with the Seattle Seahawks and was a teammate of Josh Allen’s at the University of Wyoming.

On Thursday, ESPN’s Josina Anderson tweeted that the Bills are still discussing production and consistency at the position. Anderson specifically mentions Zach Ertz as a potential option for the Buffalo Bills.

This isn’t necessarily a surprise as Ertz has been connected to the Buffalo Bills in rumors almost immediately after he was given permission to seek a trade. That deal hasn’t come together yet but at this point of the offseason, the Eagles may be more motivated as it creates more cap space being after June 1st.

As for the Buffalo Bills, they didn’t have much cap flexibility but at the beginning of the month restructured Stefon Diggs to create over $8 million in cap space. This move by the Bills certainly was done with another subsequent deal in mind. The reason is that creating that cap space now increases Diggs’ cap hit for the next two seasons.

While the Buffalo Bills don’t necessarily need to add Zach Ertz, there is no question that this offense would be better with the Eagles’ tight end in their lineup. The question is how much better are they and does that improvement align with the compensation Beane would need to provide the Eagles to complete a trade.
