Defensive Rookie of the Year
The Bills have had their fair share of Rookie of the Year candidates in the past decade (Kiko Alonso, Ronald Darby, and the aforementioned Tre’Davious White) but none of them have been able to bring home the award. The Bills spent their first two draft picks in 2021 on edge rushers Gregory Rousseau and Carlos “Boogie” Basham.
It’s hard to project what these guys will look like in 2021 because neither of them played much in 2020. Rousseau sat out the entire year to prepare for the draft, and Basham played in just 6 games. If you go back to 2019 both players were extremely disruptive, Basham had 18 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles in 13 games, and Rousseau put up 19.5 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks in 13 games.
I am confident that both players will eventually produce in a big way for the Bills, but due to their lack of experience, it could happen later rather than sooner.
