Josh Allen fought hard, but couldn’t deliver the victory as the New York Jets prevailed.

This game was the first matchup between Allen and Darnold, and for two first-round draft picks this game sure lived up to the hype. Allen and Isaiah McKenzie led the Buffalo Bills out to a 14-3 lead. The Jets closed that gap to a 4 point deficit at halftime, being down 17-13.

Darnold led the Jets on an 11-play, 85-yard scoring drive that was capped by a 7-yard pass to Robby “What’s that bear doing?” Anderson which tied the game at 20. The final field goal from Hauschka wasn’t enough, as Elijah McGuire punched the go-ahead touchdown from the 1-yard line with less than 2 minutes to go.

Allen had two crucial interceptions and a fumble in this game which doomed the Bills. The last interception came on the Bills final drive with less than one minute to go. Andre Roberts who would later become part of the Buffalo Bills had a great day with 176 yards on kick returns for the Jets. His best was an 86 yard return that led to a Jets scoring drive.

Buffalo is 3-2 in their last five meetings with New York. If history repeats itself, it should give us some great matchups this season.
